Microneedling
Microneedling is an exciting new method to trigger your own body’s healing mechanism to increase collagen and elastin production.
Microneedling is an aesthetic procedure that creates many micro-channels in the skin. This controlled micro-injury creates minimal damage to the epidermis resulting in limited downtime.
Inflammation
The inflammation process begins, which produces redness, mild swelling, and mild tenderness lasting for less than 24 hours.
Repair
Followed by the repair process, where the body begins to repair itself through the release of glycoproteins, growth factors, and the proliferation of fibroblasts.
Remodel
Finally, the skin tissue begins to remodel with the increase of surrounding collagen resulting in increased tissue integrity and thickening of the epidermal layer.
Heal
Studies have shown that these micro-channels are completely healed in less than 24 hours.
About the Procedure
A gentle face cleanser will be applied, followed by a topical numbing cream – the numbing process will take approximately 15 minutes.
After the numbing cream is applied and prepped for procedure, the aesthetician will begin gliding the SkinPen across the face.
The Skin Pen is equipped with single-use, sterile microneedles that penetrate the skin’s surface, triggering a natural immune response to activate the creation of new tissue. The micro-channels or tiny holes created by SkinPen begin the rebuilding process (activating collagen proteins) and thus immediately begin to work on improving skin quality. After the procedure, while the skin is healing, it will look like a slight sunburn for the next 6 to 12 hours.
For best results, follow the skin regimen that will be sent home with you.
